LUXURY PET PAVILION SPRING ’08 SHOW A HOWLING SUCCESS

1,700+ Attendees and 80+ Exhibitors Representing 16 Countries Gather in Los Angeles

Kickoff Event Honors Dogs of the Silver Screen to Benefit Angel On a Leash

LUXURY PET PAVILION’s first standalone market has come to a close, marking a hugely successful launch for the enterprise, which travels next to Atlanta for their Fall ’08 show (August 2-3). Underscoring the success of the show, nearly 2,000 attendees gathered to view exhibits from 84 presenters in a 100% pet-friendly environment at Los Angeles’ Westin Bonaventure Hotel. Numerous foreign countries were represented at the show as well, with exhibitors and attendees flying in from as far away as Italy, Japan, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, the U.K., China, Canada, New Zealand, Taiwan, the Netherlands, Austria, Vanuatu and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

“The attendance was more than we had imagined when we began planning this endeavor, and it is obvious we have struck an important chord within the pet industry,” said Stephanie Ellis who, along with partner Tammy Hansen, conceived and developed Luxury Pet Pavilion. “Our industry’s top merchandisers came with some of the most amazing products imaginable,” added Hansen. “We are grateful to everyone who supported the show and made it such a success.”

The show launched on Friday, February 22 with the establishment of the first-ever HOLLYWOOD DOG WALK OF FAME, at which nearly 40 vendors from the show were afforded the opportunity to feature products for attending press, including CNN International, TV Guide Channel and the Los Angeles Daily News. Actress Patrika Darbo (“Days of Our Lives,” “Charlie Wilson’s War”) revealed paw prints immortalizing seven pooches in the same way their human actor counterparts are remembered on Hollywood Blvd. The event marked the West Coast premiere of Angel On a Leash, the official charity of the Westminster Kennel Club. At the event, President David Frei spoke passionately about the work of Angel On A Leash, and the program’s strong impact. On behalf of the organization, Frei was also presented with a check for $2,500 by Luxury Pet Pavilion.

Saturday night included an awards event, in which trophies were presented for Best Booth, Best New Product and Best Dressed Dog. Live music was supplied by the band View From Everest, and the event was hosted by handsome television star Scott Elrod, from ABC’s “Men In Trees.” Press was there, including Megan Blake of “Animal Attractions,” for the Red Carpet entrances of dogs who turned out in their Sunday best for the “petworking” event.

Los Angeles , CA - February 8, 2008 – LUXURY PET PAVILION is kicking off its Spring ’08 show in Los Angeles with a nod to the Academy Awards, which take place the same weekend – February 23rd & 24th. While, across town “The Academy” will honor those two-legged sirens of the Silver Screen, Luxury Pet Pavilion is laying out the Red Carpet at L.A.’s popular Laurel Canyon Dog Park, where some of Hollywood ’s furriest and friendliest stars will help to unveil the traveling “Hollywood Dog Walk of Fame,” fashioned after the legendary stretch of Hollywood Boulevard that is home to the stars. The event, scheduled to take place the morning of Friday, February 22nd, will feature an as-yet-to-be-named celebrity host, and is a celebration of the Los Angeles debut of ANGEL ON A LEASH, the immensely successful charity of the Westminster Kennel Club which champions the use of therapy dogs in health care facilities, schools, rehabilitation, hospice, extended care, correctional facilities, and crisis intervention.

The highlight of the Angel On A Leash kickoff event will be the unveiling of the inaugural members of the “Hollywood Dog Walk of Fame” and the presentation of their “stars” – featuring their paw prints immortalized in cement. These furry stars of the silver screen will be in attendance at the unveiling, along with sponsors and vendors from the Luxury Pet Pavilion show who will be on hand to preview the hottest fashion trends for Spring ’08.

The inaugural members of the Hollywood Dog Walk of Fame include: Abbey, who stars alongside Will Smith in the blockbuster film “I Am Legend”; Jed and Quigley, who star with Martin Lawrence in the new film “Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins”; Breezy, who co-starred with Scott Bakula and the crew of the Enterprise in the hit television series “Star Trek: Enterprise”; Chester, who co-starred in director Michael Bay’s hit film “Transformers”; Tubbs, who starred with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in Disney’s recent hit comedy film “The Game Plan,” and Gibson, who – at more than seven feet when on his hind legs – is officially “The World’s Tallest Dog.”

Since 2004, Angel On A Leash has promoted the role of the human animal bond in enhancing human health and quality of life through advocacy, education, research and service. Begun as a charitable activity at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York – Presbyterian, the program has grown to include more than 30 teams there, as well as teams at the Ronald McDonald House of New York City, Providence (Portland, OR) Health Care Center, New Milford (CT) Hospital, New Alternatives for Children (New York City) Hackensack (NJ) University Medical Center, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, (TN) and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
