A Pet's World was started in 1997 when Lilly, a little Maltese came into Jane Knittle's life and changed it forever. At the time, Knittle was working in the Apparel Industry in NY and there were hardly any "fashionable" pet carriers in the market and none that were offered in fabrics that change with each season the way ladies handbags do. That was the beginning of A Pet's World. Dog totes were soon followed by Airline carriers and then hand-sewn embellished nylon collars and leashes, something that didn't exist in the market at all. Hair accessories to match were a natural addition to the growing collection. Then came colorful Raffia and Straw Pet totes; leather collars and leashes; dog sweaters and coats; patterned nylon collars, harnesses and leashes; dog toys and the most recent addition, soft harnesses made with designer fabrics.

According to Knittle, "Our mission has always been to offer affordable
luxuries and necessities of excellent quality and value for pets and the people
who love them".
